Il
Monte Pulchiana, which characterizes the surrounding area, is the largest
granite monolith of Sardinia situated on a plateau in northern Gallura
at 550
-
673 meters above sea level.
This is a Inselberg originated from the disintegration of the rock by
a process of hydrolysis. Has a characteristic rounded
shape, (base diameter 120 m, height 110 m) and
is partially covered by low scrub and sparse, and the rock surface has
a yellow-pink due to oxidation processes.
The monument is part of a spectacular landscape where the
granite is not reflected in other areas of the island: Tafoni, Thor,
piles of blocks, Inselberg dome. The plant cover is
characterized by scrub and forests of Quercus suber.
